Warring a Good Warfare

    I. War a good warfare – 1 Timothy 1:18.
   II. Endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ - 2 
       Timothy 2:3
  III. The type of warfare
       A. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal – 2 
          Corinthians 10:4
       B. We wrestle not against flesh and blood – Ephesians 
          6:11
       C. The Christian’s armor indicates the type of warfare in 
          which God’s people are engaged. Ephesians 6:14f
   IV. Preaching the Gospel is a warfare. 1 Corinthians 9:7
    V. The Captain’s Command is to:
       A. Go. Mark 16:15-16
       B. Stand fast.
          1. Ephesians 6:10-11, 13
          2. 1 Corinthians 15:58
   VI. There is no room in the Lord’s army for the sounding of 
       retreat.
       A. Illustrations:

         itself with affairs of this life.

         1. Individually, the good soldier of Jesus Christ must 
            be pure, godly, or holy.
         2. Collectively, the Army of God must not mix the 
            things of the world with the things of the Spirit.
VIII. The strength of the Lord’s Army does not always depend on 
      large numbers.
      A. Gideon and his army. Judges 7
      B. The twelve on Pentecost.
         1. Ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine. Acts 
            5:28, 42
         2. Turned the world upside down. Acts 17:6
         3. Colossians 1:23
         4. We can fill McMinnville with the doctrine of Christ, 
            etc.
         5. Can reach much beyond.
         6. But soldiers must war a good warfare.
            a. Must cease not to teach and preach Jesus.
Conclusion: The reward is great. 2 Timothy 4:7
