Is the Sabbath the Lord's Day of Revelation 1:10?
Argument:
- The "Lord's Day" is the day the Lord is Lord of - the Day that
Is His -
- In Mark 2:28 Jesus Christ said he is Lord of the Sabbath - Not of Sunday.
But:
- The Sabbath was given only to the Jews.
- In Mark 2:27-28 Jesus was not giving a history of the origin of the
Sabbath, nor defending its sacredness against desecration, nor showing that
it was made for all mankind.
- He is not claiming the Jewish Sabbath as His day, as the day consecrated
to himself.
- Mark 2:28 does not say the Sabbath is the "Lord's Day" of
Revelation 1:10. It does not even remotely imply such.
- He was simply pointing out His right to regulate the Sabbath.
- If the Sabbath could be set aside by mere men under certain circumstances,
then surely the "Son of Man" could set it aside when necessary to
further his earthly ministry.
- He had the right to regulate it to accomplish things more important, such
as His ministering life to all men.
- Since He had the right to regulate the Sabbath, then He also had the right
to abolish it. Colossians 2:14-16
- The Sabbath was never referred to as the "Lord's Day" in the
Bible or by the Jews.
- Only modern day Sabbath keepers falsely teach such.
