Prepare to Meet Your God

Introduction: As a child living in Lexington, KY as we traveled the 
highways outside of Lexington in the 1950s, I would see signs that 
would read “Prepare to Meet Thy God”.
Text: Amos 4:12
Body:
  I. Context – God was going to bring judgment upon 
     unfaithful Israel.
 II. Just as Israel had to meet God in judgment, each one 
     of us will have to meet God in judgment.
     A. Hebrews 9:27; 1 Corinthians 5:10
     B. Two Sentences (Matthew 25:47).
        1. Every lasting punishment. (darkness, worm does 
           not die, fire not quenched, with the most wicked 
           people who ever lived.)
        2. Eternal (ever lasting) life.
           a. 1 Peter 1:4
           b. Revelation 21:4 (No pain, death, sorrow, 
              crying)
           c. The great beauty
           d. Be with God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, angels, and 
              all of God’s faithful servants…
III. How does one prepare to meet God?
     A. Mark 16:16
