Chart #30 When Did the Holy Spirit Fall on Cornelius?

1. “While Peter Yet Spake”….Acts 10:44-46
   a. Chapter 10 is a general account without regard to the 
      order of events.
2. “As I Began to Speak”….Acts 11:15.
   a. In Chapter 11 “Peter…expounded it by order…” 11:4.
3. Peter Was to Tell Him “Words, Whereby Thou and All Thy 
   House Shall Be Saved.” Acts 11:14
   a. If Cornelius was saved when Holy Spirit fell on him:
      (1) he was saved before he had heard the words to 
          save him. Acts 11:15
      (2) he was saved before he had Faith. Acts 15:7; 
          11;15; Romans 10:17.
      (3) he was not saved by Praying through – Acts 10:4; 
          11:14; 15:7
4. Eliminate the miracles and his conversion was like all 
   the others.
   1. He heard the word preached – Acts 10:33; 11:14; 15:7.
   2. Believed – Acts 15:7
   3. Repented – Acts 11:18
   4. Baptized – Acts 10:48; 11:1; 2:41
Chart #31 Why Did the Holy Spirit Fall on Cornelius?
A. What It Did Not Do.
   1. Not to remove total Depravity – Matthew 18:1-5; 
      19:13-14; Ezekiel 18:20.
   2. Not to convert or save him – Psalm 19:7; Acts 11:13-
      14; Ephesians 3:6; James 1:21; Romans 1:16.
   3. Not to Give Faith – Acts 15:7; Romans 10:17.
   4. Not to purify – heart or soul – Acts 15:7; 1 Peter 
      1:22-23.
   5. Not to give Remission of Sins – Acts 10:43
      a. It is water Baptism that is for the Remission of 
         Sins. Acts 2:38; 22:16
   6. Not to sanctify – John 17:17.
   7. Not that he might be born of the Spirit – John 3:3-5; 
      1 Peter 1:22-23.

Chart #32 Another Look at Cornelius

  1. He was commanded to be baptized - Acts 10:47-48.
  2. All of God's commandments are righteousness - Psalms 119:122; Romans 1:17.
  3. But, Those Who Do Righteousness are "Born of God". 1 John 2:29; Acts 10:34-35

Therefore, Cornelius Was Not "Born of God" Until He Was Baptized.
