I Press Toward the Mark”

Text: Philippians 3:13-14
Introduction:
 I. Give the background of the text.
II. “I press toward the mark.”
    A. “Press” – Present tense – “Keep on pressing.”
Body:
  I. What is involved in pressing on toward the mark?
     A. Attending the assemblies of the church.
        1. James 4:17
        2. Matthew 6:33
     B. Teaching. Matthew 28:19-20
     C. Living a righteousness life.
        1. Morally pure
        2. Benevolence
           a. Galatians 6:10
           b. James 1:27
 II. The Devil is trying to stop us from pressing on.
     A. He tries many different ways (tricks) to stop us.
        1. Sometimes it is being persecuted. 2 Timothy 3:12
        2. Sometimes it is discouragement.
        3. Sometimes it is hard times.
        4. etc.
     B. But, we can’t let Him stop us.
        1. My experience in ice-skating (I didn’t stop 
           after the first, second, and more falls.)
        2. 1 Corinthians 10:13
III. The Reward For Pressing On:
     A. Heaven.
        1. Revelation 21:3-4, 10-22:5
     B. Forever
        1. Matthew 25:46
        2. 
        3. “When we have been there 10,000 years, we have 
           no less time than when we first began.”
 IV. The Penalty For Stopping Pressing On.: Hell.
     A. Revelation 21:8; 20:15
     B. Mark 9:43-48
     C. Forever.
