The Great Commission

Text: Mark 16:15-20
Introduction: We have here Mark’s account of the great commission.  
Today, let us notice some things that Mark wrote in the last six 
verses of his book.
Body:
  I. The commission.
     A. “Go into all of the world.”
        1. Colossians 1:5-6; 23.
     B. “Preach the gospel”.
        1. The gospel – the same as preaching Jesus as
           Philip with the Eunuch.  Why? Romans 10:13-14, 
           17.
        2. Teach (make disciples – New American Standard)
        3. The same is true for us.
           a. Matthew 28:19-20
           b. 2 Timothy 2:2
           c. Mormon’s have a greater success with studies 
              set up by members with…
           d. Insurance salesmen.
 II. Verse 16
     A. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.
        1. 2 + 2 = 4, believe + baptism = salvation
        2. “and” is a conjunction…
        3. Belief is a prerequisite.
        4. If a governor says to the convicted thieves in 
           prison, that if he will make a written pledge to 
           be an honest man, and will restore fourfold what 
           he has stolen, they will be pardoned.
     B. Baptism
        1. For believers, not infants.
        2. A burial:

III. The miracles. Verses 17-18
     A. The fulfillment
        1. tongues – Acts 2
        2. Casting out demons -  Acts 16:16-18
        3. snakes – Acts 28:3-4
        4. heal the sick – Acts 3
        5. drink poison.
     B. The purpose of miracles.
        1. John 20:30-31
        2. Mark 16:20

     C. They have creased.
