ENTANGLING ALLIANCES
Text: Exodus 14:3
Introduction:
I. “Entangled in the wilderness”.
A. We have all seen flies entangled in spider’s web.
II. We should not be so allied with evil as to get
entangled in it. Satan has his devices in which to
entangle us.
A. 2 Corinthians 2:11
B. 2 Timothy 2:24-26
C. He has his “spider webs.” Beware of them.
Body:
I. There is always danger of getting entangled in the Old
Law.
A. Some ways in which they become entangled:
1. Adventists go the law for the Sabbath.
Colossians 2:14-17
2. Mormons became entangled in polygamy.
3. Instrumental music
4. Dancing before the Lord
5. Clapping
B. To go back to the Old Testament for authority,
obligates one to do all of the commands.
1. Galatians 5:1-4
2. Sabbath, animal sacrifices, incense,
circumcision, stoning those guilty of
fornication, etc.
C. Scriptures:
1. Hebrews 8:6-9
2. Ephesians 2:14-16
II. Be not entangled with the affairs of this life.
A. Some ways in which they become entangled.
1. Making money.
2. The day to day affairs
3. Families
B. Scriptures

III. Be not entangled with the pollutions of the world.
A. Such as:
1. Fornication – 1 Corinthians 6:9
2. Drinking and drunkenness – 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1
Peter 4:3
3. Lying – Ephesians 4:25
4. Theft & dishonesty – Ephesians 4:28
B. Scriptures:
1. 2 Peter 2:20-22
2. Titus 2:11-14
IV. Other entangling alliances:
A. Denominationalism – John 17:20-21; 1 Corinthians
1:10-13.
B. Adulterous marriages – Matthew 19:9.
C. All sinful habits.
