Chart #22
A Study of the Word "Except" - Shows Salvation is
conditional.
- "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot
enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:5
- "Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of
the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of
heaven." Matthew 5:20
- "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye
shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3
- "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his
blood, ye have no life in you." John 6:53
- "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke
13:3
Chart #23 My Opponent is Here Fighting the Will of God.
- He says that God predestinated some for Hell, before they were born, and
fixed "sin" to cause them to go there.
Notice: He says the doctrine I teach is false, therefore those who
believe and obey it are in sin. So it must be the will of God
for me to preach it, so that those who obey it will go to Hell where God
purposed that they would go. - If this is true, he is fighting God's
Will when he tries to keep people from obeying what I teach.
- He says God predestinated some for Heaven, before they were born, and
fixed the means ("the righteousness of Christ") to cause them to
go there.
Notice: Since the commandments of God are righteousness, Psalms
119:172, and the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, Romans
1:16. If I preach the truth and he fights it, he is fighting the will
of God to save those he purposed to save.
According to my opponents position, he is fighting the will of God one way
or the other.
Chart #24 Upon What Basis Does He Condemn Sin?
- According to my opponents doctrine, whatever a person does, is in keeping
with and brought about by God's fore-ordination or decree. Whatever a
person does whether good or bad, God has ordained that thing.
- If this be true, it would be impossible for man to do wrong or sin, since
"sin is the transgression of the law" or God's will. 1 John 3:4
If a man steals - God unchangeable ordained it - Why was Achan stoned to
death?
If a man kills - God unchangeable ordained it - Why was
Cain cursed?
If a man lies - God unchangeable ordained it - Why
was Ananias and Sapphira slain?
- According to my opponents doctrine it was not only in accordance with
God's will, but he had freely and unchangeably ordained that they should do
the very thing for which they were slain and punished!!!
- Upon what basis does he condemn sin?
- Can any sober, honest thinking man believe such a theory???
Chart #25 For Whom Did Christ Die?
- 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 - "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if
one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for
them...
- Hebrews 2:9 - "...that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man"
- 1 John 2:2 - "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but
also for the sins of the whole world."
- John 3:17 - "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
- 1 John 4:14 - "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world."
- John 6:51 - "...and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world."
- Luke 2:10 - "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring
you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people."
- 1 Timothy 2:4-6 - "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Who gave himself a ransom for all..."
My opponents position either:
- Makes God a respecter of persons - Acts 10:34.
- Or, Forces him to universal salvation - Matthew 7:13-14.
