Chart 1 - D

Find one PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE which teaches that one who is in a proper relationship with God, (i.e., engrafted) MAY FAIL to continue to grow spiritually.

Jesus taught that some would (Matthew 13:18-23; Mark 4:14-20; Luke 8:11-15):
1. Hear and RECEIVE the word with joy. Matthew 13:20
2. For a while BELIEVE.  Luke 8:13
3. When tribulation or persecution ariseth BECAUSE OF THE WORD, by and by they are offended. Matthew 13:21.  "FALL AWAY" Luke 8:13

1. Hear the Word and go forth. Luke 8:14
2. Word is CHOKED by "the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in." Mark 4:19
3. Become unfruitful. Matthew 13:22; Mark 4:19
4. Bring no fruit to perfection. Luke 8:14

Chart 1 - E

Find one PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE which teaches that one who is in a proper relationship with God, (i.e., engrafted) may fail to continue in the doctrine of Christ.

Paul called the elders of the church of Ephesus (Ephesians 20:17, 28-30):
1. They were ELDERS in the Lord's church. Acts 20:17
2. The Holy Spirit had made them OVERSEERS. Acts 20:28
3. They had the responsibility of feeding the Lord's church. Acts 20:28
4. BUT, some of them would arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them. Acts 20:30
5. Paul says tat those who pervert the gospel are accursed or anathema. Galatians 1:6-9.

"Not the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils." 1 Timothy 4:1

Chart 1 - F

Find one PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE which teaches that one who is in a proper relationship with God (i.e., engrafted) MAY DIE in a lost condition.

Peter teaches that some who (2 Peter 2:20-22):
1. Have obtained like precious faith with US. (2 Peter 1:1).
2. Are partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).
3. Have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4).
4. Have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of...Jesus Christ (2 Peter 2:20).
5. MAY AGAIN BE ENTANGLED THEREIN (i.e., in the pollutions of the world) and BE OVERCOME (2 Peter 2:20).
6. The Latter End Is Worse With Them Than the Beginning.

Their apostasy was compared to the proverb of the dog returning to his own vomit and the sow to wallowing in the mire.
